Long Term Love
There was a TikTok trend going around, Show Your Childhood Crush and Show Who You Ended Up With. This is the video I made.
He was my childhood crush
Between my husband, Michael, and Michael Jordan, I guess you could say I have a type. Michael, my husband, was my childhood crush, just like Michael Jordan. We were all in our teens at that time and in fact, I was married as a teenager. I was 19 when we got married.
The road hasn’t always been easy. Anyone who’s been married a long time can attest to that. I once heard the beautiful Ruby Dee, say something like, the key to a long term marriage is to have more marriages than you have divorces.
In my younger years, I didn’t understand that. However, after many decades of marriage, I have come to appreciate you won’t always have the same level of love and dedication for your spouse. What we often don’t realize is, that’s normal. I tell my older daughter this as she navigates the early years of her marriage.
Keeping Love Alive
Making Love Last
One of the things I firmly believe is important in keeping love alive, is to continue dating all throughout your marriage. I think it’s really important to take time away from the craziness that life will inevitably throw your way.
When Michael and I would travel with the kids when they were younger we used to go on dates in the hotel lobby, just so we could take a little time for each other during a family trip.
I talk about making love last and dating in this video.
So, what are your thoughts on making love last? Drop me a comment and share your thoughts.
Until next time,
Namaste,
