Remember These Guys?
If you thought these raisins were cool, let me tell you, making your own delicious homemade raisins are even cooler! They’re cool and easy to make. Let me show you!
I Bet You’re Wondering How I Knew
Well, I didn’t hear it through the grapevine! It started because I accidentally bought an extra container of grapes from Sam’s Club. I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try the dehydrate function of my air fryer.
Now that I’ve made them a couple of times, I can definitely say, make sure they’re seedless! Once I didn’t pay attention and though the raisins were delicious, there was an unexpected crunch in the middle of every bite. So, be warned! Unless you want slightly crunchy homemade raisins, make sure your grapes are seedless!
Remove grapes you don’t like
Beyond removing grapes you don’t like, make sure to remove the grapes from the stems. When picking through your grapes for your homemade raisins, very small grapes will dehydrate much more quickly and you will need to take them out sooner. That can be a hassle so you may want to remove them up front. I use the smaller grapes in in fruit salads.
Thoroughly Wash and Dry Your Grapes
Make sure to thoroughly wash and dry your grapes for your homemade raisins. You can try spinning them in a salad spinner or double drying them with paper towels. You want to remove as much moisture as possible to reduce the amount of time it takes to dehydrate your soon to be yummy and delicious homemade raisins.
Air Fryer Method
Make sure to place in a single layer in the fryer. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may only be able to make a small amount of homemade raisins but they’ll be delicious!
Be Patient!
There are two down sides of making homemade raisins in the air fryer. One is how small the basket is so you can only make small amounts of homemade raisins. The other downside is the amount of time using the Dehydrate function.
While you see it show almost 12 hours, I had to add on another 4 hours to get to the delicious homemade raisins. So, here’s another option. Use the oven.
In the Oven
Make sure to put all of the grapes in a single layer. I use parchment paper to line the baking sheet. One reason is your raisins will produce a sticky sweet syrup. Using parchment paper makes the clean up from your raisins much easier.
Preheat Your Oven
Pop your grapes into the oven and in about 4-5 hours, you’ll have a healthy delicious treat.
The Final Product
Just look at those juicy delicious raisins! Look at how they compare to store bought raisins.
Raisins from the store
Something to sing about!
I’m telling you, once you make your own delicious homemade raisins, you’ll never want store bought raisins again!
