That’s because that’s John Wayne’s real name. He was born on May 26th, 1907 in Winterset, Iowa. While he was born in Winterset, Iowa, he grew up in Southern California.
Somewhere along the way, he dropped the name Marion and became known as John Wayne or The Duke and sometimes Duke Wayne.
John Wayne The Patriot
Throughout most of his life, Wayne was a vocally prominent conservative Republican in Hollywood, supporting anti-communist positions.
In today’s world of extremely divided politics in the United States, it’s rare to see the kind of patriotism John Wayne demonstrated in 1960. After supporting Richard Nixon in the 1960 presidential election; John Wayne said the quote below.
