How Could This Be?
To understand why I say the shameless hypocrisy of TikTok, you first have to understand this isn’t new. Black Content Creators have been calling out TikTok for a number of double standards and inconsistencies for quite a while now.
I’m just confused how I ended up in a bad place on TikTok.
How Could This Happen?
I thought I understood enough about TikTok and how to enjoy it. Heck, I even wrote a book about it.
It’s Cool When They Do It
To understand the hypocrisy of TikTok, take a look at all of the videos I’ve gotten Community Violations for. In each case, I’ll show you an example of the double standard and how it has affected me.
The First Sign of Problems
If you follow me on TikTok and/or read my blogs, you may recall just last month, I did a blog post about the Community Violations I got because of the Shirley Temple videos.
You can check that post and videos out here. Though I didn’t agree with them, I thought it would be the last one I got. Boy was I wrong!
Thanksgiving Fails
Since I usually like to start my day with a silly or funny video, I created this video of some epic Thanksgiving fails.
TikTok Hypocrisy On Display
In my Thanksgiving Epic Fails video, I was given a Community Violation (CV) for Dangerous Acts. I’m not sure what the dangerous acts were that were so egregious I ended up with a CV. Especially when there are TONS of videos with similar content that are still up.
Take a look at the images above and below. In both cases, turkeys were dropped and a fire was started. However, TikTok’s hypocrisy made my videos banned while others and more stay up with no violations.
It’s cool when they do it, it’s a problem when I do it.
The TikTok Hypocrisy About Art
After visiting the the Kura Hulanda Museum in Curacao, I wrote this blog post and created some videos. One of the videos showed tribes of Africa and as you can see the woman’s breast are exposed.
Considering how much crazy stuff I see on TikTok, I didn’t really think it would be a problem since it was art.
Boy was I wrong! months after I posted the video someone must have complained and TikTok took it down for nudity.
The Shameless Hypocrisy Of Lady Godiva
However, it only takes a quick search on TikTok for Lady Godiva and you’ll find this image. It’s cool when they do it, it’s a problem when I do it!
The TikTok Hypocrisy About Pets
All you have to do is search the term puppy kisses on TikTok and you’ll find a whole slew of videos of dogs giving their owners kisses on the mouth.
While I’m not one to kiss a dog in the mouth, I also believe in staying in my lane. I say, Do You , Boo!
Dog Love Ok But Not This Kind…
The Racoon Video
What’s The Reason?
Is This The End?
So, now what is the question? While I’ve really enjoyed my time on TikTok, I really don’t need the aggravation.
I’m beginning to migrate my content to my other platforms where I don’t have the hassle. My blogs are my biggest platforms since I don’t have to worry about censorship. I have this blog and my CupofMood blog. Additionally, you can find me on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.
For those of you on TikTok, for as long as I have my account, until I get banned, I will likely post brief videos to let you know what I’m up to on my other platforms.
