There are some days when you go out thrifting and you come across a deal so great, you can’t wait to share it. This was definitely one of those trips!
Last weekend, we decided to take an impromptu weekend getaway trip to check out the monthly Antiques Fair in Arcadia. This is definitely one of the benefits of being retired! You can get up and go as you please.
After a fun day of antiquing, we hit the Goodwill Manasota on North Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. They must have gotten a donation from Tommy Bahama because when I tell you, I hit pay dirt (more like beach sand, lol), I truly hit the motherlode! I found a bunch of brand-new Tommy Bahama resort wear and swimsuits pieces for up to 90% off! Check out my haul!
This cute swimsuit cover up was originally $99.00. The Goodwill price was $14.99 but since I joined their membership discount program, I saved an additional 25%, bringing the price down to $11.24. That’s an 89% savings!
This striped tankini top hit just the right nautical theme to make my day! The price was absolutely the icing on the cake. Originally priced $118, priced at Goodwill for $14.99, subtract for my membership discount and the price dropped to $11.24. That’s a 91% savings!
Here’s another cute tunic cover up. The original price tag was ripped off but if we use the other tunic as a guide, it’s likely another 89% savings!

I love this top combined with the other side of the reversible high neck swim top for a super cute combo! The combined price originally would have been $228. Based on the prices on the tags, the Goodwill price would be $30. Let’s not forget, I had my discount so that was another 25% off; bringing the price down to $22.50.
Since I retired, I’ve been slowly but surely replacing my business attire with resort wear. Hey, why not feel like I’m on vacation all the time? So, I can’t wait to wash these and put them into my resort wear rotation or plan a vacation outfit around one of them.
Yes, I’m one of those people, always coordinated on vacation too, lol! In fact, I love to incorporate my thrift store finds into our luxury vacation travel. I have to admit, I get a secret pleasure out of getting compliments on my bargain priced outfits as I stroll through the luxuriously appointed beach resort lobbies as I’m headed to the beach. And yes, honey, I sttttrooooooollllllll through the lobby!
In fact, this one of my recent thrift store finds, this beautiful caftan and somewhat matching swim shoes. We stayed at the wonderful Lido Beach Resort. It is definitely a resort with a focus on luxurious leisure in mind. I’ll do a full review in an upcoming post.
I absolutely love the extreme juxtaposition of the cost of our luxurious room with its breathtaking sunset views versus the elegant but extremely inexpensive outfit I had on in this picture. I couldn’t help but laugh to myself, as I strolled through the lobby gathering compliments on my faux expensive resort wear that in reality, cost me less than $15. The caftan was brand new at another Goodwill and was $5.99 and the shoes were also brand new and $7.99 . Now, that’s what I call Ballin’ on a Budget!
